Forces of Transition: Fear (Copy)

Fear accompanies us from the beginning of our human existence. Sometimes it comes slowly and sometimes with full force. Fear is a paradoxical something that has an inherent “as well as” in it; both tender and brute. It protects and hinders us in equal measure. Especially when we are moved from our usual paths, we feel them again.

Some people stay in their fear and try to suppress it or develop other mechanisms to avoid feeling it. But there are also those among us who perceive our fear, who don’t look away but face it. The fear does not go away, but it opens up a space of new possibilities. In a conversation with entrepreneur and data protection officer Bettina Sandrock, I explore what happens when we take this step, what spaces of opportunity are, and what that has to do with the culture of experience.

In my series “Forces of Transition”, I talk to women entrepreneurs who have dealt with the forces of change fear, truth, clarity, courage, and love in their entrepreneurial existence. Bettina Sandrock is a data protection officer and, with her company Alarmstufe Red, advises companies on all aspects of GDPR. In her podcast, Der Datenschutz Podcast, Bettina explores topics related to data protection in a humorous way, sometimes with changing guests.
